Hometown Challenge

UPDATE: Please post reviews here.

NOTE: I made two challenge graphics, the one above and one at the bottom of this post. However I encourage you to make your own graphic with a picture of your own hometown if you can. As long as it says Hometown Challenge.

Your challenge if you choose to accept it is to read at least ONE book from November 1, 2007 to March 1, 2008 that either takes place in your hometown or is written by an author who lives in your hometown. It can be the place you were born or where you live now, whichever. If you absolutely can't find ANYHING than read a book from a city that is in the same state or province as you live.

Another intriguing challenge! I don't know if I should do Detroit, where we live or Charlotte, where we're moving. Hmmm. Guess I'll do Detroit since I already have a book in the old tbr stacks that fits called Made in Detroit. It's a memoir and while I forget the author at the moment, I'll try to remember to post it (Paul something seems like it fits for some reason) when I dig it out.

I'm in, too. I'm going to read Dear John by Nicholas Sparks for this one. I grew up (at least partly) in Wilmington, NC. I signed up with Mr. Linky.

Finished my first of two books for this challenge today. I never would have found it if I hadn't been searching for Portland authors just for this.

Bellingham, Washington -- born there, grew up elsewhere, went back for college. I'll read Lost Souls by Michael Collins. He was born in Ireland, but apparently is living now in Bellingham.

Nice idea for a challenge, thanks!
